Interior and Exterior
The 2026 Equinox delivers a modern and versatile design inside and out. On the exterior you'll see a bold grille and sleek LED lighting (headlamps and taillamps) with available two-tone roof options; RS trim adds gloss-black badging and mirror caps, 19- or 20-inch machined or blacked aluminum wheels, roof-mounted rails, and optional rugged touches on the ACTIV trim. Inside, the Equinox seats five with premium cloth, Evotex, or sueded microfiber upholstery depending on trim. Key features include an 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, an 11-inch Driver Information Center, hidden storage spaces, folding 60/40 split rear seats, and up to ~63.5 cu. ft. of cargo space with the rear seats folded.
Performance
All 2026 Equinox models come with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Depending on drivetrain, front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available. The transmission varies: FWD models utilize a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while AWD models use an 8-speed automatic. Towing capacity is about 1,500 lbs. EPA-estimated fuel economy is competitive: in FWD mode, MPG can vary 26-28 mpg highway / 26 mpg city depending on trim.

Technology
Standard tech includes wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, Google-built-in services, WiFi hotspot capability, multiple USB ports, and screen setups as noted above. Higher trims bring conveniences like wireless charging, hands-free liftgate (AutoSense), dual-zone climate control, premium audio, and advanced driver displays.
On the safety side, every Equinox includes Chevy Safety Assist: front pedestrian braking, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, IntelliBeam auto high beams, crossing-traffic alerts, blind zone steering assist, and more depending on trim.
Safety Features
You can count on the Chevrolet lineup to have some of the top safety features in the industry. Let your journey begin with safety assists, like front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, following assist indicator, and adaptive cruise control. Most of the safety features are controllable with sensors and cameras. When there is a danger of a collision, an alert will let the driver know. If a pedestrian or another vehicle gets too close, the driver can take evasive action to prevent the collision. If the driver is unable to, the SUV will perform needed actions, like steering wheel manipulation or hard braking.
Trim Levels
There are three main trims for 2026: LT, RS, and ACTIV.
-
LT: Entry-level, but with strong feature content - cloth or optional Evotex seating, basic wheels ≈ 17", LED lighting, heated front seats & steering wheel, standard safety suites.
-
RS: Sport styling cues - gloss black exterior elements, RS-specific grille, larger/machined 19- or 20-inch wheels, flat-bottom steering wheel, sportier upholstery and trim accents.
-
ACTIV: Geared toward rugged or "off-road look" usage - all-terrain tires, unique wheels (≈ 17-inch), roof rails, sueded microfiber interior surfaces, more aggressive styling, dual-zone climate control, etc.
The LS is an excellent starting point, with standard LED headlamps, Chevy Safety Assist technology, a Teen Driver suite, and wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The LT trim enhances your drives with a multi-color driver information center display and a powered driver's seat with lumbar control. The RS expands your comfort with a power liftgate, LED taillamps, and front and rear park assist technology. The top-tier Premier model has a hands-free liftgate, an 8-inch color touchscreen, and 18-inch machined-face aluminum wheels.
